GLOBAL HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM AND COMMUNICATION PRACTICES

OBJECTIVES

The objective of research is to dissent and review the global (at WHO level) and country specific healthcare management information systems, supply chain and communication practices, identify the gaps in the view of COVID-19 pandemic and provide recommendations to develop a holistic, integrated and pandemic resilience Healthcare Management Information System (HMIS).

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Review of literature and data on the health management information system at WHO level – how WHO coordinates its operations at global level, how it gathers data/intelligence from member countries, what sort of IT platforms it uses for the purpose, how it synchronises its health intelligence system with health management information systems of member countries.
  • Review of country specific health management information systems – The availability and use of HMIS worldwide, use of technology as a backbone of HMIS, possibilities of standardization and synchronization of country specific HMIS with regional and global (at WHO level) level HMIS.
  • Review of country specific health management information systems – The availability and use of HMIS worldwide, use of technology as a backbone of HMIS, possibilities of standardization and synchronization of country specific HMIS with regional and global (at WHO level) level HMIS.
  • Review of healthcare communication by WHO and countries – its structure, strengths and weaknesses as well as recommendations to improve.
  • Review of the existing system of WHO’s supply chain systems/inter-government supply chain system to address health emergencies/ disease outbreaks.
